Would you like be the proud owner of a Hare sculpture? If it’s to brighten your office, make a statement in your garden or to give someone special the ultimate surprise gift, you need to be at the Big Hare Trail auction.

Whether you plan to bid for your favourite or simply wish to enjoy the electric atmosphere as the Hares go under the hammer, the evening is set to be a fantastic finale to the 10-week trail.

Hosted at the Marine North Berwick on 1st October, you can join us on the night, bid online, or just watch the live-stream from the comfort of your sofa. Tickets to attend are limited. You can apply below.

The reserve for each Hare sculpture is expected to start from £3,000, so be prepared for some competitive bidding!

Proceeds from the auction will be donated to Leuchie House, helping to secure the future of Leuchie for families living with the effects of a neurological condition for generations to come.

There is limited capacity for the LIVE auction and we expect this event to be oversubscribed. Please complete the form below to register your interest in the auction and apply for tickets. Tickets for those individuals and groups planning to bid for the auction will be approved first and spectators will be approved on a first come, first serve basis.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    The auction is taking place on Friday 1 October 2021. The event will begin with a reception at 7.30pm followed by entertainment and the auction at 8.00pm, which will conclude at approximately 9.30pm. There will be light refreshments during the evening.

    There will be 10 lots to bid for during the evening.

    People interested in bidding on a Hare are encouraged to come along to The Big Hare Hurrah to see the artwork up-close.

    Payment can be made by electronic transfer, debit card or credit card. You will need to pay on the night of the auction.

    The Hares are made of fire-resistant fibreglass. The Hares are approximately 1930mm tall, Paws to tail 1127mm long, and 1127mm wide at the back with its ears 610mm apart. It weighs approximately 80kg.

    A logistics company will be available during the night of the auction to organise delivery. There will be a sliding scale of delivery charges, dependent on distance.

    We’ll provide you with some basic guidelines to keep up the appearance of your artwork. Regular maintenance of your sculpture is a very simple way to ensure its longevity.

    The Hares do experience a lot more ‘touching’ than they normally would during the trail and will be touched up and re-varnished by each of the artists ahead of the Grand Auction.

    Prospective buyers are encouraged to take a closer look at the sculptures during the Big Hare Hurrah on 26 September 2021.

    Ideally, we would like to have in the room serious bidders only.

    While it is difficult to assess the likely amount that any sculpture may sell for, we believe a bid in excess of £3,000 should secure a sculpture. However, prices realised could be higher and we expect some sculptures to sell for considerably more.

    Yes, there will be an online auction, where you can register as an online bidder.

    Our online partner will ask you to complete a simple approval process – you will be asked to provide ID and/or company registration details if you are bidding on behalf of a business, or personal identification if bidding as a private individual.

    Once you have been approved, you can choose to submit your auction bid prior to the auction. Your bid will be included in the live auction on the night. You will be able to continue bidding online at the live auction to increase your bid.
